We are pleased to pass along that LAWCHA member Suellen Hoy has won 2014’s Harry E. Pratt Award for the best article in the Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society. Her article is entitled, “Chicago Working Women’s Struggle for a Shorter Day, 1908-1911.” It was published in spring 2014 and is available on JSTOR.

Rosemary Feurer is Professor of History at Northern Illinois University. She is the author of Radical Unionism in the Midwest, 1900-1950, among others. She is working on The Illinois Mine Wars, 1860-1940 and a new biography of Mary Harris “Mother” Jones.
