Oscar López Triviño was murdered on November 9 in the Colombian city of Bugalagrande a day after he and other members of his union, SINALTRAINAL, received death threats from paramilitaries. The union had been on hunger strike at Nestlé beginning November 5.
The IUF joins with the national center CUT and unions around the world in condemning this assassination of yet another Colombian trade unionist and calls on the government to swiftly bring the perpetrators and organizers of this crime to justice through a full and transparent investigation, and to provide all necessary security for other union members at high risk.

El dirigente sindical Oscar López Triviño fue asesinado el 9 de noviembre en la ciudad colombiana de Bugalagrande un día después de que él y otros miembros de su sindicato SINALTRAINAL, recibieran amenazas de muerte de paramilitares. El sindicato había estado en huelga de hambre en Nestlé a partir del 5 de noviembre.
Le instamos a su gobierno a actuar con rapidez para garantizar que los autores y los organizadores de este crimen sean llevados ante la justicia a través de una investigación completa y transparente. También insisto en que se proporcione la seguridad inmediata y total a los miembros de SINALTRAINAL y líderes en Bugalagrande y para el resto de los miembros del sindicato en situación de riesgo.
